Meet Anette Schwitzke

Anette Schwitzke leads for GIZ u.a. Acting development actors security training at home and abroad. For the Bundeswehr, she is working as a trainer for Gender in Action and Political Education. She has lived in various African countries and in Israel and worked for GIZ in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Anette has many years of experience as a project manager and consultant for civil society institutions such as the International Voluntary Service "weltwärts". She has training as a conflict counselor and is particularly interested in the social and psychosocial effects of violence.

Dealing with drivers – or „How to be a good passenger?”

Two security trainings in Uganda, exclusively for drivers, were a valuable learning experience for me and my colleague and generated a considerable amount of recommendations from the participants. „The car is my office.“ - „Do not call me ‚driver’!” For passengers A lack of respect and inappropriate behaviour towards the driver were clearly described as security risks. Why? The physical and maybe more importantly the psychological well-being of the driver is the basis of a good driving performance.

Safety training for drivers

For skilled workers in development cooperation, safety training is now an integral part of the preparation. Drivers who play a key role in the safety of their passengers in their day-to-day work often receive driver training, but no training that deals with other aspects of safety in a practical way.
